Tripura Sundari Temple, Tripura

Because the temple grounds resemble the shape of "Kurma," which is a tortoise, this pithasthan is also known as Kurma Pith. At first glance, the temple structure resembles a redesigned Buddhist stupa.

The temple is to the west, and the main entrance is also to the west, although the north entrance is small. However the impact of middle age Bengal "Scorch Chaala"(4 skewed rooftop) sanctuary design is obviously noticeable, such a mix is interesting to this spot and Tripura could unmistakably guarantee this just like own Building style. The sanctuary comprises of a square sort sanctum of the commonplace Bengali cottage type structure with a cone shaped vault. In recognition of this heritage, a stamp featuring the Tripureswari temple was released in September 2003. Kalyan Sagar, a lake on the eastern side of the temple, is where tortoises and very large fish live in peace. The Temple is about three kilometers south of Udaipur town. The Temple of Tripura Sundari or Matabari are common names for it.

History of the Temple:

In the year 1501, Maharaja Dhanya Manikya established the Tripura Sundari Temple. Although it is believed that he actually built the temple for Lord Bishnu, he later installed an idol of Mata Tripurasundari made of Kasti stone from Chittagong, Bangladesh, after receiving a revelation in a dream. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, according to some. Peethasthans are the places where Devi Sati's body parts have fallen, according to Hindu mythology. According to "Pithamala Grantha," during Lord Siva's Tandava Dance, Sati's right foot fell here. This large number of informations are assembled from the compositions of the Sanctuary. Be that as it may, these original copies have been disposed of throughout time.

The deity of Devi Tripura Sundari is made of Kasti stone which is rosy dark in variety. The idol is 1.57 meters tall. installed on a stone platform, it is 1.64 meters in length and width. Devi Tripura Sundari stands on Lord Siva's chest and is crowned with a golden crown and has a gridlock. She has four hands, a face that is a little longer, and relatively small eyes.

Tripura's distinctive architecture is used to construct the Tripura Sundari Temple. The temple has a height of 75 feet and is surrounded by four massive pillars in its four corners. The Buddhist architectures are used to construct the root. At the highest point of the sanctuary seven pitcher/pots are set up holding one banner. The temple's architecture is a blend of the country's diverse cultures and traditions. The current sanctuary is built during the rule of Maharaja Radhakishore Manikya Bahadur.

It is common knowledge that members of various cultures and religions congregate at the temple. The fact that anyone of any religion can perform puja for Sri Sri Mata Tripura Sundari is a distinctive feature of the temple. Udaipur was attacked and taken by Samser Gazi in the middle of the 18th century. According to Samser Gazi's biography "Gazinama," Gazi had performed puja for Devi Tripura Sundari. People from a variety of religions, cultures, and portfolios make up the Temple management Committee as well.

Even Muslims in Udaipur practice the custom of offering their first crops and milk to Devi Tripura Sundari. Its base measures just 24 square feet, or 7 square meters, and its height is about 75 feet, or 24 meters. It is also believed that during Lord Shiva's dance, Sati's right foot fell here. The roof of the shrine is shaped like the humped back of a tortoise, giving it the structure of a tortoise. Thus, the place of worship is otherwise called "Koorma Peetha"(Koorma meaning Turtle). Along the approach road, like in other typical Hindu shrines, stalls sell flowers and baskets of offerings that visitors can take to offer to Tripura Sundari and have returned as Prasadam. The brown, sweet Pedas, which devotees bring back from the temple to share with friends and family, are especially popular here. As an offering, the red hibiscus flower is also prized. On the eastern side of the temple is a large lake called "Kalyansagar." The lake is from Maharaja Kalyan Manikya's time (1625–1660 AD). This enormous body of water, which spans 6.4 acres and has a length of 224 yards and a width of 160 yards, adds a dimension of great beauty to the temple precincts, with picturesque hills rising in the background.
