The temple is one of 51 Shakti Peeth located throughout the Indian subcontinent and is dedicated to Goddess Sati. A yajna was planned by King Daksha, Lord Shiva's father-in-law, according to religious texts. In which, King Daksha didn't invite Lord Shiva and Mother Sati, his daughter, because he didn't think Lord Shiva was equal to him. Goddess Sati felt terrible when she heard about it, so she decided to go there in yajna without being invited.
Mata Sati jumped into the Havan Kund after King Daksha insulted Lord Shiva at the yajna site, which she could not bear. After learning about this, Lord Shiva traveled to Havan Kund, exhumed Goddess Sati's body, and began performing Tandava, or the dance of destruction, which shook the entire universe. In order to protect the world from Lord Shiva's wrath, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to divide Goddess Sati's body into 51 parts. The Shakti Peeth were formed in the locations where Sati's body parts fell.
History of the Temple:
Kankalitala Sanctuary is arranged on the banks of Kopai stream in the north-east of Bolpur (Shanti Niketan), in the Birbhum area of the territory of West Bengal. The sanctuary is one of the 51 Shakti Peeth of Goddess Sati, where the midsection of Mother Sati fell. The Kankalitala Temple is one of Hinduism's most well-known temples. The temple is presided over by Goddess Sati. It is believed that Sati's waist, or Kankal in Bengali, fell at this location, creating a hole in the ground that was later filled with water and a divine kund. This temple does not have statues or idols made of stone, metal, or clay. There is an outlined painting portraying goddess Kali remaining on the highest point of Ruler Shiva. The names "Devgarbha" and "Ruru" are used to represent the temple's placement of Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati's respective divine energies.

একটি এবং দেবী সতীকে উত্সর্গীকৃত। ধর্মীয় গ্রন্থ অনুসারে, ভগবান শিবের শ্বশুর রাজা দক্ষ দ্বারা একটি যজ্ঞের পরিকল্পনা করা হয়েছিল। যেটিতে, রাজা দক্ষ ভগবান শিব এবং তার কন্যা মাতা সতীকে আমন্ত্রণ জানাননি, কারণ তিনি ভগবান শিবকে তার সমান মনে করেননি। দেবী সতী এই কথা শুনে

নাড়িয়ে দিয়েছিল। ভগবান শিবের ক্রোধ থেকে বিশ্বকে রক্ষা করার জন্য, ভগবান বিষ্ণু তার সুদর্শন চক্র ব্যবহার করে দেবী সতীর দেহকে 51 টি অংশে ভাগ
করেছিলেন। যেখানে সতীর দেহের অংশ পতিত হয়েছিল সেখানে শক্তিপীঠ তৈরি হয়েছিল।
মন্দিরের ইতিহাস:

পৃথিবীর যেকোনো প্রান্ত থেকে আপনি কঙ্কালিতলায় পৌঁছাতে পারেন। নেতাজি সুভাষ চন্দ্র বসু বিমানবন্দর হল সেই বিমানবন্দর যা মন্দির থেকে 153 কিলোমিটার দূরে অবস্থিত। বিমানবন্দরটি মুম্বাই, দিল্লি, হায়দ্রাবাদ, চেন্নাই, ব্যাঙ্গালোর এবং দেশের অন্যান্য মেট্রোপলিটন শহরের সাথে সংযুক্ত। এখান থেকে ট্রেনে করে যাবেন বোলপুর শান্তিনিকেতনে। শান্তিনিকেতনে থেকে গন্তব্যে পৌছানোর জন্য আপনি বাস বা অন্যান্য যানবাহন ব্যবহার করতে পারেন।
